Roger Bacon was the father of the modern scientific method, and it is no coincidence that he was also a devout Christian. Most of the great scientists of the past were Christians, and their motivation for studying the natural world was to learn more about God. Indeed, Roger Bacon claimed that a good scientist should rely on Divine inspirations to help him understand the world around him.
